Chandrabhaga fair is one of the most important and popular cattle fair of Rajasthan. During this fair cattle traders from other parts of India also come here for selling their animals. This fair is celebrated in the Jhalrapatan village in the Jhalawar district in the months Kartik (Oct-Nov). It is dedicated to the Sun God. On this day people take a dip in the holy Chandrabhaga river.
Legend associated with Chandrabhaga Fair:
There is a very famous legend that is related to this fair. In the ancient times Shambhu who was the son of Lord Krishna was suffering from leprosy. When he took a holy dip in the Chandrabhaga river he was blessed by the Sun god and was cured of his illness. Since that day this fair is organized every year in the honor of Sun god.
